In the kingdom of Alarandor, magic is not something owned, collected, or commanded. It is something that flows. It moves through the land, through the elements, and through living beings in different ways, according to their nature.
Those who live in Alarandor understand that magic is not the same for everyone, and it is not meant to be.
Magic, like the land itself, has rules — not written laws, but natural truths that have been learned over time.
Magic as a Living Force
Magic in Alarandor comes from the four ancient elements: Earth, Wind, Fire, and Water. These elements are the source of all magical energy, and they exist long before any Fairy or Fairy Folk learned to live among them.
Magic flows where the elements are in balance. When the land is healthy, magic moves freely. When balance is disturbed, magic grows quiet or restless, signalling that something needs care.
Magic is not created by will alone. It must be respected, listened to, and allowed to move naturally.
The Magic of the Fairies
Fairies are born of elemental energy. Their magic is not learned and not spoken aloud through spells. It exists as part of who they are.
A Fairy’s magic shows itself in flight, in their ability to hide from human eyes, and in their deep connection to nature. Forest Fairies help trees grow strong. Flower Fairies bring balance and color to the land. Stream Fairies guide water and reflection.
Some Fairies are born with stronger magic than others. Fairy Godmothers are among those with the greatest magical capacity. They can shape magic deliberately, using spells when necessary. Even then, their magic is guided by wisdom and restraint, never used for personal gain.
The Nature of the Fairy Folk
Not all who live in Alarandor carry magic within them.
Elves and Dwarves do not possess magical power. They cannot cast spells, nor do they draw energy directly from the elements. Instead, they work through knowledge, skill, and cooperation.
Elves understand the land through careful observation and experience. Dwarves work with stone and crystal, respecting the natural energies already present within the earth. Any magic found in their tools or structures comes from the materials themselves or from working alongside magical beings — not from the Elves or Dwarves directly.
This is not seen as a limitation. In Alarandor, wisdom and skill are valued just as highly as magic.
The Path of the Wizards
Among the Fairy Folk, Wizards are rare. They are the only Fairy Folk who can wield magic deliberately.
Wizard magic is learned, studied, and practised with great care. Wizards do not draw magic from themselves, but from their understanding of the elements and the natural balance of the world.
They use spells sparingly — to restore harmony, protect the kingdom, or guide elemental forces back into balance. A Wizard who uses magic carelessly does not remain a Wizard for long.
Why Balance Matters
In Alarandor, magic is never about power. It is about balance.
Fire without restraint becomes destruction.
Water without guidance becomes flooding.
Wind without care becomes chaos.
Earth without respect becomes barren.
Those who understand magic know that its purpose is to serve the land, not control it.
This is the Law of Magic in Alarandor:
Magic exists to support life, not rule it.
And because this law is honoured, the kingdom remains whole.
